The Ninjas were a ska band active from 2002 to 2005 formed in Ann Arbor, Michigan. They were friends of Cojum Dip and played with them at the 1st Asteroid Chainsaw Classic.[1]
The band played their first show on September 28th, 2002, at The Neutral Zone,[2] and was composed of Miller Tinkerhess (a.k.a. Master Po) on vocals and trumpet, Nick Lundholm (a.k.a. Mardok) on guitar, Caleb Curtis (a.k.a. Sir Phobos) on bari/alto sax, Stuart Parnes (a.k.a. Wenzel Edwards) on bass, and Cade Sperlich (a.k.a. Omega Cade) on drums. Honorary members would include Steve Vozar (a.k.a. Farmer Joe Butterbox) and Ed Waisanen (a.k.a. Officer Sanchez).
In November of that same year, guitarist Nick Lundholm left the band, being replaced by Adam Levine (a.k.a. The Iron Gentleman). Tenor sax player Jake Scobey-Thal (a.k.a. Jam Masta Jew) joined the band at the same time.
However, Adam's stay in the band would not last long, as in June 2003, he would be replaced by guitarist and vocalist Stephan Wunderlich.
In February 2004, bassist Stuart Parnes left the band, and was replaced by former guitarist Nick Lundholm, who previously left the band in November 2002.[3][4] Later that year, in August, Derek Caldwell would join the band as the trombone player, replacing Miller Tinkerhess.[5]
The band would disband sometime in 2006, however, some members of the band would form a new band called The Setup that same year, playing with Cojum Dip at their farewell show in September.[6]
Over the course of the band, two albums would be released: Skaflakes in 2003, and Platypus in 2004.
The band would briefly reunite in 2008, with Stephan, Miller, Caleb, Stuart and Cade as members.[7]
Trivia
- Both Skaflakes and The Greatest Demo CD in the Universe are described on their respective band's website as "N tracks of totally awesome!"[8][9]
- Most members of the Ninjas have the letter "W" written on their hands during shows, which Mumutits would also do.[10][11]

Skaflakes is The Ninjas' debut album, released November 1st 2003.[2]

- The CD cost $6 instead of $8 if you showed up with a costume at the CD release party.[2]
