M54 is the fourth song on Cojum Dip's album, Cojum Dip and fifth song in some variants of the Anthropomorphic Bible Assault EP. It was mainly written by Bora Karaca however some lyrics were free styled by other members.

The song seems to act as an introduction to each member of Cojum Dip, and is currently the only song sung by all members of Cojum Dip (except Captain No).

History

The song was originally titled 5/4 as seen on the Anthropomorphic Bible Assault EP and debuted on their Emergenza Alvin's performance on December 12th.

The Anthropomorphic Bible Assault EP demo of 5/4 features a different rapping verse for Bodur only, however, on live performances of the song, the members would often freestyle a verse.

An early instrumental demo of 5/4 named "fivefourfinal" was made in August of 2005 and given out to the band members, although the song existed as early as July.

5/4 was one of the two new songs featured in the Anthropomorphic Bible Assault EP along with Cell, however, the song wouldn't be rereleased again until 2014 in Cojum Dip's self-titled album.

Trivia

• The song's time signature is 5/4 hence the name M54, this is further implied by the song's original demo title "5/4" which was changed to be "M54" ("M" likely standing for "Measure").
• The "Oh Dip!" present in the 2014 release of the song is sampled from Futurama.
• The song closes with a sample from the "Mad Watch" scene from the 1951 animated film Alice in Wonderland. In the scene, the White Rabbit's pocket watch is destroyed by the March Hare, to which the Mad Hatter says "It's two days slow, that's what it is." The sound of the broken watch and the Mad Hatter's quote is present in the song. However, the streaming release only has a modified version of the broken watch sound.
• Blake Gower (Captain No) wasn't featured in the rapping section because of his singing abilities: however, a verse was written for him.
• An old mix of the song was made available by Blake Gower, this mix being almost identical to the Anthropomorphic Bible Assault EP demo, only lacking Mumutits' verse.
• Udabn's verse was sang by Matt S. in studio releases and most live performances, however, the verse was sang live for the first time by Alex Saenz at Alvin's on December 2nd, 2005, shortly before Matt joined the band. It's unknown whether Alex ever recorded his verse in a studio.
• On the self-titled album's PDF booklet, the text "...your time is soon..." is hidden, invisible, where Laurence's verse is located. It can be seen by trying to select text over his verse.

5/4 was produced as single was made and produced in mini CDs following the songs debut at Alvin's, with only around 10 copies being made. It is likely this track later made its way onto the track list for the Anthropomorphic Bible Assault EP.
